Overall while Dracula Untold is an entertaining movie it does fall short in a few areas that cost the movie as a whole. If you’re a big fan of the character of Dracula in past media and literary interpretations then this may not be the movie for you.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation doesn’t try to be anything that it isn’t. It is positively entertaining and blends the best elements from the franchise’s previous four installments. Cruise has done it yet again.
When I first heard the Terminator franchise would once again be making a comeback, I was extremely skeptical. Do I love Terminator? Of course! Nothing would make me happier than to see a well executed sequel, but there were two things that made me stunt my zeal: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and Terminator: Salvation. Both films proved to dismantle the once astounding franchise, whose greatness we can attribute to director James Cameron, creator of many wonderfully entertaining films. Although I had my reservations, I decided to watch ‘Arrnald’ and company yet again return for some thrilling action and some wibbly wobbly timey wimey adventures.
Ant-Man is the latest installment in Marvel Studio’s plan to take over the world. Scott Lang is a slick thief talented in breaking into the most secure places, a profession with very little benefit. Scott’s criminal activity costs him his wife and his young daughter who admires him greatly. In one last heist, Scott comes across the Ant-Man suit capable of shrinking a human down to the size of...well an ant.
Tomorrowland is very similar to Frank Walker’s jetpack. It may be flawed and expected, but it certainly does try to dream big.
Mad Max: Fury Road is an adrenaline-spiking thrill ride that relentlessly anchors you to the edge of your squeaky local theater seat.
Kingsmans’s over the top violence and plot are in contrast to the overall aesthetic of a majority of the characters. With a visionary director, studded cast, and exhilarating story, Kingsman: The Secret Service is a definite winner.
After leaving a trail of dead bodies in both Turkey and Istanbul, you would think we’d had enough with the “taken” formula. Sadly, Hollywood disagreed and forced upon us Taken 3, a lazily assembled film whose only goal was to gain some more green.
The real issue with this film was how it affected the characters. It was essential for the plot, but I think it really hurt it in the end. Most of the characters were no longer who we remember them to be just a year ago. Many of them received little screen time. Most of that was reserved for crying Katniss. Overall, the film was glum and although it had some strengths, I was mostly disappointed by the lack of progression. Most films have a beggining middle and end, even if it is a lead in film. This film showed no evolution. I am hoping Part 2 will turn it around and show some resolve.
Big Hero 6 tells the story of Hiro Hamada (Ryan Potter), a young boy with an immense knowledge of technology. Hiro uses his special gift of hustling unsuspecting robot fighters in the streets of San Fransokyo.
