Deepwater Horizon | Dim The Lights Podcast Ep.4

Last updated on November 16th, 2016 at 08:29 pm

On April 20th, 2010, one of the world’s largest man-made disasters occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico.

Brian and Olga discuss Deepwater Horizon, a film by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg, Gina Rodriquez, and Kurt Russell. This film is based off a NYTimes article which you can find here! I still have to read it haha.

At The Box Office: October 14th

The Accountant: Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the worlds most dangerous criminal organizations.

With the Treasury Departments Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

Desierto: What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.

Movie News

  1. Luke Cage is on Netflix! We are about halfway through and promise to devote an episode to discussing the amazing Marvel series.
  2. Announcement for War of the Planet of the Apes
  3. Is The Purge coming to TV??? While this article by Cinema Blend has its own ideas about how The Purge can fit on TV, I have some ideas of my own. Put simply, let’s have a season that covers the length of 1 purge night similar to the popular show, 24, which takes place in 24 hours.
  4. J.J. Abrams is promising a Portal movie! If it’s anything like Dan Trachtenberg’s short count us in.
  5. We watched 15 minutes of Marvel’s Doctor Strange and discuss our thoughts. In case you missed the trailer…
