Suicide Squad: Worst Heroes Ever X___X
Update: Read our spoiler-free Suicide Squad review here
Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, El Diablo, Killer Croc, Enchantress, Katana, Slipknot, Rick Flag, and Amanda Waller. What do all these individuals have in common? They’re all in or associated with the Suicide Squad, or specifically the next, and third, film in the lineup of DC Extended Universe films leading up to the Justice League.
Suicide Squad follows a group of hardcore criminals, considered the worst of the worst, who are enlisted by Amanda Waller, a mysterious government figure, to assist in missions for the government that are considered highly dangerous. Rick Flag is the military officer hired by Amanda Waller to lead this group of extreme misfits. The second trailer for Suicide Squad dropped this week to the tune of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and I must say, it’s a fine song as the background music for this trailer. It sums up the type of atmosphere that this film bathes itself in with all the crazy villains we have running amuck. (What else would they do? Harley Quinn said it. “We’re bad guys. It’s what we do.”) We got a look at the “worst heroes ever” being assembled by the government and creating chaos on their “secret/black ops” mission. That, or as Rick Flag describes it, “You’re going somewhere very bad (cue helicopters firing shots) to do something that will get you killed.” If you don’t know much about the characters in this team here’s a basic rundown according to Mr. Flag.
- Deadshot – shoots people
- Killer Croc – he’s a crocodile and he eats people
- El Diablo – burns people
- Enchantress – you’re possessed by a witch
- Harley Quinn – and she’s just crazy
Unfortunately Flag’s brief dialogue about these members is brief and the other members weren’t covered with any description in this trailer. Those who know DC comics well most likely know a lot about these individuals. For those who aren’t as well versed, like myself, will just have to wait for another trailer to drop. In the meantime we’ll just have to rely on other sources on the Internet.
We also got to see more glimpses of the Joker, both in look and the dialogue he has. I feel confident to say Jared Leto has his version of the Joker down and that it’ll impress audiences. Already this film is higher on my list of films to definitely see compared to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I loved the extra footage we got to see, I love how they marketed this trailer with “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and I love just how they executed the trailer in general. Suicide Squad as a whole already seems more interesting than Batman v Superman, to me. Suicide Squad will open in theaters August 5, 2016. Until then we’ll have to wait to see Joker’s new toys.
