Watch: Adorable Baby Groot Debuts in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Trailer

Last updated on March 15th, 2017 at 03:05 pm

The Guardians are Back!

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer has finally premiered! After a short sneak peek, we now have a full trailer from Marvel Studios. We get to see Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot, this time around as Baby Groot, go about cosmic shenanigans set to the back drop of The Sweet’s “Fox on the Run.” Sounds like that may be our sequel’s main theme, as Hooked on a Feeling was for the first film.

All the Cosmic Antics You Love

Based on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer, it looks like we’ll have the following to look forward to in the second film: more fun and awesome cosmic action scenes to behold, a lot of hilarious Baby Groot antics to go around, and more Guardians chemistry that made the main characters great the first time around.

Cosmic Action

The action scenes showcased in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer all look like a lot of fun to watch, and seem to fall in line with the cosmic action that made the first film great. There’s not much to not like about these action scenes. I can’t see what’s not fun about watching the Guardians crew run around the galaxy, causing mayhem, trying to save the galaxy, and all while providing many moments of humor to keep the positive vibes up. I mean, we have Drax fighting a squid, lots of spaceship fighting action, and even Rocket trying to teach Baby Groot not to push the button that will cause death by a bomb explosion.

Baby Groot!!

Speaking of Baby Groot, I believe the general consensus, after watching the trailer many times, or even just once, is that Baby Groot is going to be the cutest and one of the best things to come out of this sequel. He not only comes off as lovable, but is prepared to beat up bad guys all over the galaxy in some hilarious, over-the-top style. You can already see it in him when he’s grabbing someone on a bridge, by the “branch,” and then proceeding to throw that guy off. Rocket has taught him well. However, there’s obvious room for improvement when it comes to discerning which is the button by death and which is not.

Same, Awesome Guardians Chemistry As Before

The chemistry between Rocket and Groot isn’t just relegated to them, as you can see in the last scene of this trailer. The chemistry between the Guardians is great. We learn so many things through these moments. Through our new character Mantis, we learn Star-Lord has “sexual love” for Gamora (as if we didn’t know that already), Drax is a troll, and that stupid moments like these is what’s going to make this film just as good, if not better, than the first.

A Promising Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer

I’m excited for this next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The teaser trailer showed a lot of great footage, and I definitely like that we don’t know what the story is. That’s the way a trailer should be. Last note: I’m excited for the soundtrack for this sequel too. What do you guys think? Sounds off in comments below with what you think about the new teaser trailer for the Guardians sequel. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out on May 5, 2017.
